Calculator inputs

The amounts, rates, goals, schedules, and results are processed in your browser. The calculator code does not send those values to our server and does not store them in a database. Resetting a form restores its defaults. Scenarios are not saved automatically. If you explicitly agree to save, one set of assumptions per calculator is kept in local browser storage until you remove it or clear browser data. It is not encrypted, so avoid shared devices. Restoring a scenario recalculates it with the existing calculator.

Exporting, comparing, and sharing

CSV files are created on your device and contain your assumptions and displayed projections, rounded as shown. Scenario comparisons are kept in memory only while the page remains open.

Creating a result link requires a separate explicit agreement. The link includes the displayed summary and financial results in its URL fragment, not your form inputs or the complete projection. It is not encrypted: anyone with the link can read it, and sharing services may store it. The recipient sees an unverified snapshot. Our code removes the fragment before initializing analytics or Clarity. Google's page location includes only the page path and bounded campaign tags; arbitrary URL parameters and fragments are excluded. Its referrer excludes queries and fragments.

When feedback is available, its link opens a hosted Tally form only after you choose it. We add the tool identifier, page path, UTC date, release version, and request type. We do not add financial inputs or results, and do not load Tally scripts or frames on this site. Tally processes your submitted rating, optional comments, suggestions, problem reports, and technical request information under its own privacy practices. Do not include account information or personal financial details. Free-text feedback is never sent to our analytics.

Website requests

Cloudflare delivers this site and processes the technical information needed to serve requests, such as the requested page and network information.

Google Analytics loads on the public production site using Consent Mode v2, not on local or Cloudflare preview pages. Before permission, analytics storage and every advertising consent signal default to denied: Google Analytics does not create analytics cookies, but it may receive limited cookieless consent and measurement pings. Choosing “Allow analytics” grants analytics storage while advertising storage, advertising user data, Google signals, and ad personalization remain disabled. Choosing “Decline” keeps every consent signal denied. Google Analytics measures page views, scrolls, outbound clicks, file downloads, and the fixed event names calculator_view, calculation_completed, and validation_failed; the last event may include a field name such as years, never its value. GA4 retains user-level event data for up to 14 months for analysis; aggregated reports may remain available longer.

Clarity can provide aggregated interaction views and session recordings. The calculator form, results, and annual table are explicitly masked, and Clarity masks input and select contents. We do not send names, email addresses, account identifiers, calculator amounts, rates, schedules, or results through our analytics adapter.

Your analytics choice is stored in your browser so the site can remember it. Use “Privacy choices” to change the decision. Microsoft Clarity remains unloaded until analytics consent is granted.

Planning resources

The planning checklist has no note submission or email form. Notes you write on a printed copy or in your own document are not collected by this site. After analytics consent, a print-button click may send the event resource_print_requested with the fixed resource identifier planning_checklist. It does not report your notes or whether printing completed. Resource navigation uses content_link_clicked with link type and page paths, without financial values.

Purchases and support

When you choose to support this project, the link opens Buy Me a Coffee, where you choose an amount and complete payment under its privacy practices. We do not load its widgets or send calculator inputs, results, or page metadata to it. Buy Me a Coffee and its payment processor handle payment information; the creator may receive supporter and transaction details through that service. Contributions are separate from workbook purchases.

Workbook checkout and payment processing are provided by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy collects the customer, payment, tax, and transaction information needed to process the order, deliver a receipt, prevent fraud, and handle refunds. Its privacy terms apply within its checkout and customer portal.

Plain Finance Tools may receive order details needed to deliver and support the product, such as the customer name, email address, order identifier, product, amount, currency, tax, status, and refund information. We will use those details for fulfillment, customer support, accounting, fraud prevention, and legal obligations. We do not receive or store complete payment-card numbers.

If you email support@plainfinancetools.com, we use the message and contact details to answer the request and keep the records reasonably needed to resolve it.

Our pages link to public resources including Investor.gov and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Those sites have their own privacy practices when you follow their links.
